Some handy Run Menu commands

In my last post, I mentioned about some useful keyboard shortcuts. Now I'm gonna tell you some Run Menu commands which comes handy when we need to open an application or a program.

This is what the Run Menu looks like.

We waste a lot of time searching for an application to open. This is where the 'Run Menu' comes into play. Just launch it by pressing Windows + R or via the Start Menu.

Application/Program                         Command (Not case sensitive)

MS Word                            --                      winword
MS PowerPoint                   --                       powerpnt
MS Excel                            --                       excel
MS Paint                             --                       mspaint
Command Prompt               --                       cmd
System Configuration           --                       msconfig
System Services                  --                       services.msc
Registry Editor                    --                        regedit
DirectX Dialog Box             --                       dxdiag
System Information             --                        msinfo32
Notepad                             --                        notepad
On-Screen Keyboard         --                        osk
System Restore                   --                        rstrui
Sticky Notes                       --                        stikynot
Task Manager                     --                        taskmgr
Task Scheduler                   --                        taskschd

Important note: In case you cannot access a file/folder located in a particular drive, you can always use the Run Menu to get access to that file/folder. I'll show you how to do it. Its very simple.

Open Run Menu and start typing the address of that file/folder
For example: D:\Music\xyz.mp3
Another example: E:\Backup\ImpDocs\Project.docx

This way you can directly play your mp3 file (as in the example) or open any file.
There are commands for each and every program installed in your system. You can try on your own and discover many of them.

Have a faster Windows life! :)
